New NSBA President Continues Efforts to Support the Pledge’s Goals

![]() “NSBA’s ‘Pledge to America’s Schoolchildren’ has energized school boards across the nation and their respective members of Congress,” said Norm Wooten, a school board member from Kodiak, Alaska, who was elected as NSBA’s 60th President in April. “This year I intend to work on engaging our communities to move all of us toward the belief that children are everyone’s priority.” Since January, more than one-third of the members of the 110th Congress have signed the “Pledge to America’s Schoolchildren” to affirm their commitment to the students and school systems in their states and districts. The Pledge consists of five bipartisan principles to:
